S&OP for pharma

Pharma S&OP software that ends with one agreed plan

Commercial, demand and supply each bring their own numbers, and the decisions end up in email. PLAIO keeps the discussion, the change history and the agreed plan on the rows supply plans from.

Decisions made in S&OP rarely reach the plan

A tender is due in November. In a thread, someone asks whether January can be covered without going under the MOQ, and a planner changes a cell. Two weeks later nobody can say why December went up.

Each team brings its own spreadsheet, so the meeting spends its hour reconciling numbers.

The commercial forecast, the statistical one and the supply view arrive as separate files, merged the night before. The meeting argues about whose number is right. What it does decide ends up in the minutes.

Next month the same questions come back. Nobody can find what was agreed, or who changed the plan afterwards.

Why it matters:

People reopen decisions they can’t find. When the agreement sits on the plan itself, the next cycle picks up where the last one stopped.

What S&OP looks like in PLAIO

Prev. Cycle Deviation exceptions by location and month, the largest +96% in Germany for November 2026, among 79 exceptions

Start with what moved

Before the meeting, PLAIO flags each month where the live plan has drifted past your threshold from last cycle’s plan. The review opens on those rows.

Change History for the Capsule 50mg supply row into Nordic: November, January and December edits with old and new values and the comment for each

Every change keeps its reason

Each edit is kept with the person, the time and the old and new values, and they can add the reason. When someone asks why December went up, the answer is on the row.

Forecast Library for the Active Plan: the current plan, monthly snapshots created on the first of each month by PLAIO, and a saved August S&OP consensus

Last month’s plan is still there

PLAIO snapshots the active demand plan every month and scores accuracy against those snapshots. You are measured on the plan you actually agreed.

Service Levels for two supply scenarios over the next 12 months: Market Plan at 84.6% fill rate and Q4 Replenishment Plan at 100.0%

Agree the number on the row

Tasks and comments live on the planning rows. Each task has an owner and a due date, and the Tasks page shows what is open and what is overdue.

Try it in a scenario first

Copy the active plan into a scenario for the lost tender or the launch that slipped a quarter. Supply keeps planning on the active plan until someone makes the scenario the plan.

Compare supply plans on service

The Service Levels and Inventory & Expiry dashboards work on any supply scenario. Fill rate, lost sales and months of inventory sit side by side, so the meeting can see what each option costs.

Protect what supply has committed

Each demand scenario has a frozen period, set in months, that can’t be edited. Supply lanes have their own, and PLAIO leaves planned orders inside it alone.

Pharma S&OP FAQ

There is no separate sign-off step. The record of agreement is in the work itself: task comments, change history entries and the choice of Active Plan. Sign-off still happens in your S&OP meeting, and the history is there when someone asks how the plan got there.

Yes, as their own demand lines. A commercial plan, a tender or a market estimate can be uploaded from a spreadsheet and used as the base or as an overlay for the months it covers. Every edit lands in the change history, so you can see whose number moved.

Our customers run SAP (ECC and S/4HANA), NetSuite and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. PLAIO also works with Oracle. We build the connection for you. Until it is ready you can plan on the exports and spreadsheets you already have, and each upload is checked before the plan changes.

Most teams are planning in PLAIO within weeks. Starting on exports means the first cycle doesn’t wait for the integration, and when the live feed arrives the plan carries on without a rebuild.

Yes. Saved forecasts keep their date, author, label and notes, and each month’s plan stays in the Forecast Library. Every worksheet row has a change history with the time, the user, the column and the before and after values. Your ERP stays as it was validated, and approved orders go back to it.

We look at what moved since the last cycle, agree a change on a plan row, and compare two supply scenarios on fill rate. Bring a few SKUs if you want to see your own. Book a time.
